The Trifecta Effect 2 - Teddie Miller (Human Growth Hormone / IGF-1 / Leptin)
This testing package which includes Insulin-like Growth Factor-1 (IGF-1), Growth Hormone (GH) and Leptin was created based on the recommendation of Teddie Miller, author of The Trifecta Effect. IGF-1 is a hormone produced by the liver, muscle, and other tissues in response to Growth Hormone production by the pituitary gland and is vital for normal tissue and bone growth and development. Measuring IGF-1 can be useful for evaluating deficiency or excess of Growth Hormone as well as evaluating pituitary functioning. GH is produced by the pituitary gland and is needed for a body's normal growth. GH deficiency in adults can lead to decreased bone density and/or muscle strength and elevated blood lipid levels. Leptin is a hormone produced primarily by fat cells. Leptin helps the body regulate hunger. When leptin levels are low, a person will feel hungry. Leptin deficiencies can cause obesity by causing a person to consume more food than they need. Leptin resistance, in which a person experiences hunger even when their leptin levels are high, can also contribute to obesity.
Turnaround for these tests is typically 4-8 business days.
