The Thyroid Panel blood test is used to evaluate how the thyroid is functioning. This may also be used to help diagnose whether a person has an over-active or under-active thyroid.

The Thyroid Panel Screens For:

• T3 uptake (Triiodothyronine)
• T4 (Total Thyroxine)
• Free Thyroxine Index T4

The Thyroid Panel with TSH is a group of blood tests that helps evaluate thyroid gland function and can help diagnose thyroid disorders

This test measures Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP) in the blood.  ALP is an enzyme primarily found in the cells of the liver and bones. Elevated ALP levels are typically indicative of liver or bone damage.  High ALP is normal in children whose bones are still growing. 

This test is often ordered as part of liver function testing to aid in the diagnosis of liver disease or monitor treatment.  When ordered by itself, ALP is often tested with GGT to help differentiate between liver and bone disorders.  While ALP may be elevated in cases of liver or bone disease, only liver disease will cause elevated GGT levels.

An ALP test is also included as part of a Comprehensive Metabolic Panel and a Hepatic Function test.
